Abatement Process

This page briefly describes the fiberglass abatement process used by Hottel Energy Solutions as minimum standards on all fiberglass abatement jobs. Fiberglass is a carcinogenic substance and should be treated as dangerous. All reasonable efforts are made to protect employees, other workers, homeowners and their families.

First Visit

  1. Identify type and amount of insulation to be removed
  2. Identify exit pathway
  3. Complete abatement contract

Workday

Appropriate disposal and removal equipment – on site.

  1. Tarp floor – exit path
  2. Setup Zipwall 6 mil plastic barrier around exit pathway

All persons entering abatement pathway:

  • Wear full-face negative pressure mask at all times
  • Wear hooded Tyvek suit and cloth gloves at all times

Before leaving abatement pathway area:

  • Remove and bag used Tyvek suits, discard with insulation
  • Vacuum areas adjacent to exit path
  • Remove Zip wall and tarps
  • Vacuum exit path areas
